Ghahramanan Amusement Park Operations Workshops

The Importance of Staff Training in Creating Amusement Park Experiences

At theme parks and amusement parks around the world, creating an experience and a coherent environment matters as much as designing rides and attractions to appropriate standards. In Iran, this aspect has often received less attention, with designers and investors concentrating primarily on safe, exciting equipment.

In a theme park, rides and attractions, service and operations staff, transport, restaurants, shops, toilets and even litter bins all form part of the story. Visitors travel into the park’s theme, leaving everyday reality for an imagined world. At Ghahramanan, our study of successful international parks, the theme-park design book I translated the previous year, and my visits to parks and entertainment-industry exhibitions led us to a clear conclusion: staff training is essential to creating a memorable themed environment and guest experience. Operators and food and beverage teams need appropriate training, and every employee receives preparation for working within a theme park alongside training for their specialist role.

The workshops, presented in the original article as the first of their kind in Iran, introduced participants to the meaning of a theme park, guest hospitality, security, safety, emergency management, and food and beverage service.

At the time of the original article, Ghahramanan Amusement Park had held three rounds of these workshops. Our aim was to emphasise operations and experience creation within Iran’s entertainment industry and contribute to progress in an area that had received limited attention.
