The statue of “At The Service of Mother”

This figurative statue of a boy who is carring his old mother on the back; became one of the most famous elements of Mashhad city after its installation. This was highly noticed due to its deconstruction method in presenting the urban image of mother-child relationship as well as its nostalgic expression. Almost all sculptures perviously designed to appreciate the value of motherhood, the mother was always shown as a strong and reliable character; But this one, took a new look on the reality of mother-child- relationship, which made it unique.

However, the dignity and respect of the mother was preserved, there were objections to the design and creation of this statue and after the preparation, this work received public attention and appreciation. The statue "At the service of the mother" is 5-meter-high and made by Mr. Mahmoud Barati with fiberglass and located on the entrance of Mullah Sadra Boulevard in Mashhad. Mahmoud Barati, the valuable artist of our country, is currently developing ideas, teaching and creating works of art in Italy.
