The most important functions of urban elements and design are to create a sense of belonging and highlight the identity of city. In this regard, by the request of Bandar Abbas municipality in 2014 which was very concerned about this matter, and with participation of prominent Iranian artists I carried out a project aimed at creating and intensifying the sense of belonging and urban identity.
After researching and consulting with historians in Bandar Abbas city, I concluded that local old jobs play an important role in creating a mental atmosphere regarding the history of the city among youth as well as getting them familiar with city identity and old traditions. Our strategy in this project was to pay special attention to local businesses, especially in a proper combination and dialogue with the beach and sea, so the Sun Hunters was born. The statue consists of four fishermen, who are fishing in the traditional method of Bandar Abbas city. It was designed and executed in less than 2 months and Mr. Amir Mahdi Vosough was in charge of the design and implementation of this work. This is located in the sea on "Soro Beach" of Bandar Abbas. The height of each sculpture is 6 meters and made of fiberglass.
