Bust sculpture of Ferdowsi

The idea of creating Ferdowsi bust in main square of Ferdowsi University campus, Mashhad, was formed focusing on national and cultural identity of this old university in the winter of 2020 and accompanied by redesigning of the square. This new arrangement has been a reflection of efforts and thoughts of many artists, wise men and architects in five main discourses:

• Reflection of the great Ferdowsi’s thought in the context and time of the work.
• Replicating of geometric shapes in order to mimic the art of composing Shahnameh in the audience’s mind.
• The idea of using the most stable geometric shape, triangle, in order to create stronger and lasting links with the epic view of the creator of Shahnameh.
• Emphasis on “I suffered a lot in this thirty years (a part of Ferdowsi poem) ” by using parts based on multiples of number thirty.
• Creation of the work in an abstract way due to the dynamic nature of mind and more variety from the viewer’s perspective over the time.

The result of various scientific discourses and thought of elites and artists led to the creation of this work of art made of fiberglass and eight meters height….
