This project was formed aimed at designing and building a theme and amusement park in Kish Island based on native identity of the region. Using the most up-to-date design and the world’s executive knowledge of theme parks and choosing the concept of “pirates”, it started in 2019 based on the request of Kish Parsis Zarmehar Co. in an area of 4 hectares. The project is under construction with cooperation of more than fifty experts and top technicians of our country.
Making a story for the amusement park
Building an amusement park based on stories and narratives is a new thing in Iran, but not in other parts of the world. The main challenge in such projects is to bridge the story world to the outside world as well as executing it. In projects of this nature, which are supposed to reach execution through narration, the interdisciplinary approach is a good option to achieve the best answer; therefore, during different meetings held with clients, we concluded to have a think tank of various specialties and ideas. The think tank, which had a story policy council, included various specialties and roles such as writers, poets, art directors, architects, philosophers, theater artists, clients and their representatives. The theoretical foundations of the project were defined under five general paths of description, analysis, criticism, model and example in the think tank. After hours of discussion, the basic concepts and characters were set. In these meetings, two stories were discussed in parallel.
Parallel stories:
۱. A story for the youths and adults
This story begins around the main character of the narrator who enters the amusement park. Firstly, the main character of the story explores the amusement park and with him, we are introduced to the residence, the Otranto Castle, the Palace of Fame, the uplifting food street, roller coaster, etc. Then he narrates amazing adventures.
۲. Kids story
Children and teenagers are the audience of this story and the main characters are:
This story is written in a world parallel to the main story. The main characters of the story have been formed according to the personality types of children and in line with their interests. The output, in the form of two sets of stories with two themes and different age groups, was approved by the clients and their representatives, and are published in separate books. The character design and accessories related to each character was sometimes drawn from the narration, and sometimes in a reverse process, from a hand sketch or a new design things added to the characters of the story.
Keywords
Challenges, issues and problems of entertainment complexes were discussed in think tank of specialist and interdisciplinary workforces. Then, values of a potential successful tourism complex were surveyed. After that, keywords were extracted and defined as the encircling ring of the complex.
In this section, the description of economic sectors was done and the main priority was given to: tourism services, necessary facilities for healthy leisure time of citizens and tourists and the capacity of foreign tourists, mainly Muslim and Shia in Persian Gulf.
The tourism perspective of Kish Island
It is predicted that in 1404 (2025) two million five hundred and twenty thousand tourists would enter the island and their average length of stay would be five days based on master plan of Kish Island. The share of foreign tourists is expected to be 420,000 to 580,000. Among foreign tourists, families of Arab countries of Persian Gulf and the Middle East who travel to the island with their children and teenagers are more than 80%.
۵۵% travel to Kish Island for leisure and recreation purpose and are under 25 years, and the share of women and girls is 43%. High income groups do not see social and economic pattern of recreational outdoor activity as appropriate and worthy of their position in Kish Island. The project is defined as a national project at the scale of a resort, theme park and indoor entertainment complex.
The project is designed in line with theme park projects of Saraaj; the Center for Development and Creation of Art Spaces, and will soon be built and unveiled in Kish Island.
